American Axes and Bad Axe Throwing are hosting the WATL Amateur Championships in Atlanta. There will be a variety of events for axe throwers to enjoy from Wednesday, November 13 – Sunday, November 17, 2024.

Our venue will host tournament matches on Friday, November 15th and we have an assortment of additional events that we would love to host throwers for practice, marathons, cash tournaments and the after party!
PRACTICE LANES:
Throwers can purchase a pass to throw at either Atlanta or Marietta Wednesday-Sunday. This would be practice on shared lanes, we will guarantee a minimum of 6 targets available for practice hours and possibly more available depending on customer flow. Our Atlanta venue has 13 targets in total and our Marietta venue has an additional 9 targets. Please note that purchasing a weekend pass is only for practice lanes and the Throw with a Pro Clinic. Participating in the after party, marathons or tournaments comes at an additional cost. Practice lane pricing below:
- $55 weekend pass including an Always Axe Throwing t-shirt
- $40 weekend pass (no t-shirt)
- $20 day pass
- $100 weekend pass plus one marathon – choose one of either Big Axe (Thursday @ 4pm) or Hatchet (Saturday @11am). Note that if you advance in the tournament to throw past Saturday at 11am, you will be refunded.

4pm – Big Axe marathon
8pm – Trivia-Axe: Grab a beer from Dr. Scofflaw Brewing and enjoy our spin on bar trivia. Teams of up to 6 people can score points by answering questions correctly AND throwing axes! $15 per player to participate.
Friday, 11/15:
9am – Amateur Championship matches starting at 9am and last until between 3pm-5pm depending on gameplay pace.
3pm – Practice Lanes available
**note that the lanes may still be in use at 3pm, will become available immediately following Amateur Championship matches**
5pm-7pm – Throw with a Pro clinic. $20 per person and weekend pass holders receive free access to this event. Opportunity to work with pro throwers and compare notes about throwing. Pro Throwers: Colton Askew, Jacob Crossan, Dan Fisher and Grant Kramb will be participating and potentially more pro throwers to be announced closer to the event.
Askew, Kramb and Fisher were top-75 rated pro hatchet throwers during 2024 Season 3. Crossan finished top-24 in knives and Askew/Kramb duals finished 8th in duals at WAKTC in April 2024.
5pm-7pm – Women’s Axe Council Tournament. We are excited to be hosting an all-women’s tournament that is hosted in partnership with the Women’s Axe Council. We plan to waive entry fees for throwers that finish in positions 1-4. We will pay out 50% of the profits in prizes as follows:
1st – 30% + Entry Fee Waived
2nd – 15% + Entry Fee Waived
3rd – 5% + Entry Fee Waived
4th – Entry Fee Waived
8pm – Duals Marathon, $80 per team ($40 per person). We wanted to provide an opportunity for Duals teams that live in different states to get together and put up a season while together in Atlanta for Am Champs!
Saturday, 11/16:
9am-11pm – Practice Lanes available
11am – Hatchet marathon, $80 per person. If you got knocked out Friday and want to keep practicing your craft, join our hatchet marathon and get another season on the books.
5pm – Amateur Throwers Cash Tournament. $75 per person. This event will be excusive to amateur throwers, no pro throwers will be allowed to participate.
- 30% to the winner
- 15% to 2nd
- 5% to 3rd
- On top of prize winnings, entry fees waived for finishing 1-2-3-4
Sunday, 11/17:
12pm-5pm –Practice Lanes available
6pm – 12am Midnight – Tournament After Party. Cap off the weekend in style, we are going to put away the axes, turn down the lights and party. Every ticket will include dinner from Fox Bros Bar-B-Que and two drink tickets towards beer & wine. Additional drink tickets can be purchased on-site. Activities to include DJ, Karaoke, Cornhole, Trash Pong and Flip Cup.
