FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How much does it cost?

Prices vary based on party size. Check out our BOOK NOW page for all the details.

What forms of payment do you accept?

We only accept major credit and debit cards. We do not accept cash, checks, money orders or whichever crypto currency is hot this month.

What is the etiquette for tipping?

Axe Throwing is in the service industry and tipping is similar to tour guides. Our instructors are expected to be by your side to provide the proper instruction to make sure that you have a fun and safe experience. Gratuities are certainly appreciated and can be applied digitally at the end of your session.

How hard is it to throw an axe?

Everyone has their own learning curve, but axe throwing is a finesse sport – it has nothing to do with how hard you can throw and everything to do with the rotation of the axe. Our instructors will work with you to teach you the proper throwing technique and stay with you until you are getting results. After a few throws, most people have already experienced the thrill of hitting the target.

Is Axe Throwing safe?

Absolutely. We have seen the rebound videos on the internet as well – throwing an axe is about control and precision, not about throwing it as hard as you can. Our instructors will teach you proper technique and be around to oversee your experience. We built our throwing lanes with your safety in mind.

What are the age requirements?

12+, but we do need to qualify that all axe throwers need to demonstrate that they have the necessary strength and coordination to throw as judged by our staff. All axe throwers between 12-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. All axe throwers are required to sign a waiver; for those 12-17, the waiver must be signed by the parent/guardian.

What should I wear?

Our only requirement is that you wear closed-toe shoes. Might we recommend plaid or flannel, depending on the season?

Do I have to reserve a lane in advance?

No, we accept walk-ins on a first-come, first-serve basis. There is a chance that we have a private event or all lanes are full. We recommend RESERVING ONLINE to secure your spot or calling first before heading over.

When should my group arrive?

Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to your scheduled time to get through the registration process, which includes signing the waiver, confirming payment and receiving a safety orientation.

How many people can throw together in one lane?

We can fit up to 6 people per lane. Any groups exceeding 6 should purchase an additional lane. If you have a big party, we offer group rates to reserve private lanes all the way up to a full venue rental. We do not pair groups together in the same lane.

Can I come to watch my friends throw?

Of course, we have plenty of comfortable places to hang out and watch your friends or sports on TV’s. Hopefully after you see how much fun it is, you’ll want to throw too!

Can we bring our own food or beverages?

Marietta – Yes, you can bring your own food and beverage (beer and wine included, no liquor).  While we sell soft drinks, if you decide after you arrive that you want to order food, there are many delivery options in the area. We are on the same property as Schoolhouse Brewing who sells to-go beer and we offer beer delivery on select days. For large groups and private parties, we have a variety of catering partners or food trucks that can customize a menu for your needs. We do not provide utensils, napkins, or plates.

Edgewater Public Market – While we sell soft drinks, we encourage guests to enjoy food and drinks from around Edgewater Public Market and bring it in to enjoy while you throw. Edgewater Public Market offers a wide variety of options including Barquentine Brewing and over 15 food vendors.

We encourage you to support their breweries and bring drinks to enjoy while you throw axes.

Can I bring my own axe?

We encourage avid axe throwers to bring their axes, however an American Axes employee must approve it first. We do not allow double-edge axes or long-handled axes.

Can I throw knives?

Yes, we are excited to offer knife throwing. We have a small quantity of knives at our stores and can teach you how to throw those as well. If you wish to bring your own knifes, we require a 4 inch cross guard to allow for safe throwing on our lanes and an American Axes employee must approve your knife before you can throw it.

Can I rent out American Axes for a private event?

Absolutely! Please CONTACT US or give us a call to talk through options. We prefer to have 2-weeks’ notice so that we can black-out the time on our calendar.

What is your no-show policy?

World Axe Throwing League

What is a Marathon League?

A Marathon League is a full 8 week league season crammed into one day. You will throw 28 games for the first 7 weeks. Then we will roll right into a tournament to declare the winner of the league. We host marathon leagues in conjunction with each season. Contact us for more information if you would like to participate.

What is the difference between a private lane and open throw?

We allow up to 6 people throwing in a single lane. We generally are able to give most groups their own lanes when booking under open throw, but if we are busy we may need to pair open throw groups together in a lane. A private lane is also priced to be slightly less expensive per person when your group size is 5-6 people.

What happens if someone is not able to make it?

We do not offer refunds, please make a reservation when you are certain of the number of people coming. With at least 24-hours’ notice, we are always happy to change your reservation to a different time. If you aren’t sure when you want to re-book to, still give us a call and we will hold the value of your reservation until you know when you want to throw for up to 1-year.

Will we have our own lane?

You are guaranteed your own lane if you book a private lane. If you book in open throw, we may have to pair you with another group – a lot like filling a group in golf. This all depends on how busy we are. If we have enough available lanes, you will be able to throw in your own lane.
